Rev. Sher A.C.
Dear Friends and Partners
Greetings in the mighty name of Lord Jesus Christ!
It is great honor and privilege to introduce of National Churches Fellowship of Nepal, (NCFN).
In 1960, group of 30 believers formed the Nepal Christian Fellowship, which is now called NCF Nepal. Despite great legal and social restriction, the Church has grown rapidly from a handful of believers in the 1950's to the current time around 3000000 believers. NCF Nepal has consistently worked to strengthen and unify the Nepali Churches in Nepal as well as Nepali speaking around the world. It is the largest coalition of indigenous churches in Nepal and currently represents approximately 4000 Churches.
In 1960, a people's movement brought about a second political revolution, which led to the introduction of a multiparty democracy and a new constitution, which allowed greater degree of religious tolerance and freedom. NCFN has been operating as a registered organization, registered in 1998. Nepal is known to have one of the fastest growing churches in the world. As this growth continues, so the work of NCF Nepal expands as it seeks to support, encourage and unify churches across Nepal.
The political scenario of the country has been often changing. Nepal is trying to practice secularism being secular country. Christmas day is declared as the national holiday and social festival. Nepal has been became Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Constitution of Nepal has been declared with focusing the concern of all, as expected to be instrumental to secure the achievements of the people's movement. People of Nepal looking for implementation of constitution though there raising voice for revision. We are very pessimistic that peace and justice will be restored in the country, in spite of geographical and ethnic variations the people's voice will be adequately taken care of, and good governance will be established. The Church in Nepal remained as back support through prayer and moral stands for the changes came in the country and will play positive roles in building process of New Nepal. In the midst of changes and challenges, roles of NCF Nepal for Church in Nepal and for the country have to be fixed in order to empower churches for undertaking initiatives for upgrading the spiritual status of the Churches and initiating projects associated with peace, social justice and human rights. Christian community has important roles to play in providing God revealed directives to the country in designing plans and strategies in making Naya Nepal. Naya Nepal must not be just a slogan but it should made reality. Every citizen including Christians has to take part in this great endeavor envisioned by our national leaders. The church in Nepal has been making dramatic efforts for evangelism and church planting. With less awareness in peace and social justice issues, nominal initiatives are being undertaken towards developmental and social works. The Church in Nepal now has realized the concept of wholestic ministry, as time is ripe for it. There are challenges before the Church in Nepal for initiation of services and projects related to the issues untouched as part of their wholistic responsibilities. We expressed our gratitude to our God for the speedy growth of Church in Nepal. We hope with the renewed strategies and roles of NCF Nepal, related church groups and local churches, speed of Church growth will increase manifold.
It is already fifty-seven years NCF Nepal has been serving, initially facilitated for fellowship. In respond to the needs of the Churches, NCF Nepal had to extend various projects that are Ebenezer Bible College and its other non academic training activities (LTD, LTS, BILD) for leadership development, leadership training and missionary trainings and supporting evangelists and missionaries. Grace Community Service is serving as social awareness for HIV and Girls trafficking. NCF Nepal has continued to initiate social works such as construction and medical camps and other developmental works.
NCF Nepal as a registered in Nepal Government, known as Christian organization, oldest and largest organization. Its properties including lands, building and others have been institutionalized. Trust and Transparency have been developed as modern accountability as to be reliable. Security of church land and properties has become essential in the church's name as ownership. Updating leadership of the churches affiliated with the place of women's leadership secured becomes essential as well.
There are various church groups, denomination and independent churches, INGOs, NGOs are working hand to hand with NCFN. NCFN as a open platform for the Churches of Nepal except the heresy on the areas of cooperation and partnership to national and international. We are equally thankful for His gracious hands to carry our ministries and services that God has assigned us. The prayers of our friends, member churches and institutions and partners have been great encouragement to us.
On behalf of NCF Nepal Executive Committee it is my pleasure to express our sincere thanks to all of you for your prayers, contributions and partnership in the works of NCF Nepal. It is our prayer to see our friendship and partnership will continue to be strengthened and grow in future as well.
